Hi Maggie,
I just read your article in the Your Town and really enjoyed your insights into the power of "YES". Thanks for sharing ,I'm looking forward to your new cook book.
I'm having Thanksgiving this year and look forward to a house full of family and wonderful smells from the kitchen. Happy Thanksgiving if I don't see you before.

Hi Diana,

Thanks for your comment. I love that you used the word intentionally. That sums up my cooking for my family - it's not happenstance. It is intentional. And it does feed us body and soul. What a great thought for the day.

HI Maggie,
I did the same thing, writing down everything I made to eat and feed my family, for 3 months before I first created the two week menu with recipes on the first edition of my website waaaaaay back in 1998. Most were recipes made based on what I had on my pantry shelves and how much time I had to fix dinner. I always cook with left-overs in mind, either for filling the freezer with future "fast food" or for using as a base or ingredient for a meal later in the week.

I enjoy the planning, thinking ahead, and the knowledge that I have a pantry, refrigerator, or freezer filled with options. I enjoy the feeling that comes with nurturing "body and soul", intentionally taking the time to choose wisely what I eat and feed my family.

Hi Maggie,
Just catching up with you!
I also have begun using a citrus reamer and immersion blender this past year, and yes, I also love them both! However, I did not think to make my hummus with the immersion blender so I will try that next time.

You probably already do this, but if my bananas or avocados (both purchased very infrequently as I really do try to purchase mostly Michigan/regional produce) start to go bad, I freeze them. I use the bananas later in smoothies and the avocados for guacamole. I don't have a suggestion for the lettuce greens except to use them to make big salads (without added dressing) and then have salad ready to eat for the next couple of days. That seems to work for me most of the time. If not, they end up in our worm bin. :-)

I remember picking blackberries with the family when I was growing up. Always hot but a fun part of summer. If you would like to pick some blackberries next summer I have a place to go.

I swear the "original" recipe did not have the bagel chips; I don't even remember them being available in the 50s.
